Privacy policy

How we handle your personal information. Last updated October 19, 2026.

Watch House Inspections is a sole proprietorship owned by Nick Hawley in North Vancouver, BC. We follow British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Nick Hawley is responsible for privacy and is the person to contact with any question or request.

What we collect

  • Your name, email, phone number and the property address, when you ask for a price or book an inspection
  • Details about the inspection: the type and size of the home, access arrangements, your timeline and anything you tell us about the property
  • The signed inspection agreement and payment records
  • The inspection report, including photos of the property, and our field notes and recordings
  • Your realtor’s or lawyer’s contact details, if you give them to us

Why we collect it

To quote, schedule and carry out your inspection, write and deliver the report, take payment, answer follow-up questions, and meet our obligations to Consumer Protection BC, our insurers and the Canada Revenue Agency. We don’t use your information for anything else without asking first.

Consent

By sending us a request or booking an inspection, you consent to us using your information for the purposes above. You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, though we may then be unable to complete the inspection or report.

Who we share it with

Your report belongs to you. We only share it with someone else, such as your realtor, when you ask us to or agree to it. We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and there’s no mailing list.

We use a few service providers to run the business: Spectora (booking, agreements, payments and report delivery), Google Workspace (email and file storage) and Netlify (this website and its contact form). Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to Consumer Protection BC or our insurer.

How long we keep it

We keep inspection records for as long as we need them for our licensing, insurance and tax obligations, then destroy them securely.

How we protect it

Records are kept in password-protected accounts with two-step sign-in, and paper records are kept secure. Access is limited to people who need it to do the work.
